Statistical Abstract of the Napoleonic Wars: Most Common Names among British Officers during the Peninsular WarThe following data is compiled from the Challis Index, which contains information on over 9617 British officers who served in the Peninsular War. In some cases, there were many variants of the spelling of the family names. However, for this study, only those individuals with the exact spelling as given below, are included. Additionally, only the officer's name had to be exact and if an individual had a middle name, he was not included in the number.
